Cuban singer and percussionist Pedrito Martinez and his band have been a huge hit in Manhattan for nearly a decade. A master of Cuban music, Martinez goes beyond the traditional form, drawing on complex rhythms, jazz, and pop. Martinez’s musical talent and onstage charisma have garnered numerous awards, including a Grammy nomination, Modern Drummer’s Percussionist of the Year, and a Thelonious Monk award. The group’s second album, Habana Dreams, was released in the spring of 2016 with special guests that included Rubén Blades, Issac Delgado, Wynton Marsalis, Angélique Kidjo, and more.
