The El Paso Kid

Raul Gonzalez grew up going back and forth between El Paso, Texas–his birthplace–and Ciudad Juarez, across the border in Mexico. He reflects on his life in La Frontera (“The Border”), an environment that is most often unrepresented and unseen, through self-portraits that integrate imagery from the old-time West, cartoons, cultural stereotypes, and art history.
