Anybody who’s anybody in Chinquapin, Louisiana has her hair done at Truvy’s salon. Amidst perms and polish, a group of women provide advice, gossip, friendship and support in good times and bad. This heartwarming comedy was inspired by real-life events in the author’s own family and proves that Southern women can be as delicate as magnolias, but also as tough as steel.
