It’s 1966, the midst of the Vietnam War and the beginnings of the counter-culture movement; an off-pitch, matronly 59 year-old singer suddenly emerges at the top of the music charts winning fame as the worst pop singer of all time. Loosely based on the life of Elva Miller, this is a surprisingly contemporary look at pop culture and the public’s fleeting fancy with the novelty of the moment.
