Inspired by the wildly popular 1984 movie, Footloose thrilled Broadway audiences for nearly two years. It’s a story of American spirit about a carefree city kid transplanted to a conservative rural town where rock ‘n roll and dancing are forbidden. He takes on the authorities, makes all the right moves, and wins the girl.
Footloose is being presented as part of the North Shore Music Theatre’s Youth Performance Academy Summer Stages program, these performances are the culmination of weeks of hard work by 54 of the North Shore’s most promising young talent. The cast features 28 young performers ranging in age from 13-18 and representing 23 North Shore communities.
Proceeds from Thursday evening’s performance benefit the North Shore Music Theatre Education Scholarship Fund.
