In the tradition of Ms. Elma Lewis, founder of the National Center of Afro-American Artists, Black Nativity delivers a powerful message of joy, hope, victory, and liberation. 160 singers, including a children’s choir, present this telling of the Nativity story; a production that combines gospel music, song, and dance with the words of Harlem Renaissance poet Langston Hughes. A delight for the entire family, this year’s performances are dedicated to the late John Andrew Ross (1940-2006) who served as Musical Director for the past 36 years.
