Intermezzo presents A Game of Chance, featuring music by Seymour Barab, and a libretto by Evelyn Manacher Draper. This comic farce explores the fate of three women when a mysterious gentleman grants them their wishes. It’s not quite what they bargained for.
Also on the bill is The Seven Deadly Sins, by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht. An early Weill/Brecht collaboration, this Ballet with song, tells the tale of Anna as she searches for money to pay for a house for her family. Along the way, she must face the seven deadly sins: sloth, pride, anger, gluttony, lust, avarice, and envy. Never were Weill’s melodies as poignant or Brecht’s words as biting as in this jazzy immorality play.
