First presented on Broadway in 1959, J.B.: A Play in Verse went on to win playwright Archibald MacLeish both the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Under a broken down circus tent, a returning performer and a rusty actor reduced to selling popcorn stage the story of J.B: a modern-day Job who has it all, and from whom everything is abruptly and violently taken.
