One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

About This Show

Adapted from the novel by Ken Kesey, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, by Dale Wasserman, is about freedom from repressive authority and the price one pays for that freedom, even in a civilized society. The story follows the exploits of Randle P. McMurphy, a small-time con man who brings humor and hope into the lives of his fellow inmates at a state mental institution, despite the machinations of the controlling Nurse Ratched. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Revival in 2001, this play takes place in the mind of the enigmatic Chief Bromden, a “mute” Native American whose actions speak louder than words. Jenny Sullivan directs.
