About the Show
Amid religious intolerance, political injustice, and racial tension, the Tony Award-winning musical Parade explores the endurance of love and hope against all odds. DerynDale Productions presents its inaugural production this fall at The Electric Lodge in Venice, CA. With a book by Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy) and a rousing score by Jason Robert Brown (Songs for a New World, The Last Five Years), Parade examines the darkest corners of America’s history. In 1913, Brooklyn-raised Jew Leo Frank is tried for the murder of 13-year-old factory worker Mary Phagan. Already judged guilty, a sensationalist press and false testimony seal his fate. His only defenders are his wife, Lucille, and a governor who sees through the injustice. Directed by Saundra McClain, co-music directed by Jonny Perl and Alonso Pirio, choreographed by Raélle Dorfan, and stage managed by Abigail Poulos and Izaiah Martinez. Starring Adam Fried* and Bryce Hamilton* with a stellar ensemble. (*AEA; **SDC)
