Richard II, the most romantic of Shakespeare’s English History Plays, tells the story of Shakespeare’s most poetic king. Blinded by the glittering spectacle of his own sovereignty, it’s not until Bolingbroke (King Henry IV) deposes him, that Richard learns what it really means to be human.
