About the Show

Between 1938 and the outbreak of war, almost 10,000 children, most of them Jewish, were sent by their parents from Germany to Britain. Nine-year-old Eva arrives in Manchester, changes her name and tries to bury all the memories of her previous life. It is only when her own daughter discovers some old letters in the attic that Eva is forced to confront the truth about her past.

Winner of the 1992 Verity Bargate Award, Diane Samuels’ moving and powerful play receives a timely major revival, directed by Polly Teale, winner of the 2003 Evening Standard Award for Best Director.
