Faust and his legendary pact with the Devil have been a popular theme of works throughout musical history, but contemporary French composer Pascal Dusapin’s take casts this familiar tale in an entirely new light. The libretto, also by Dusapin and inspired by Christopher Marlowe’s The Tragical History of Dr. Faustus, follows Faust through his final night on earth as he searches for answers to life’s questions from a blind angel and a mocking Mephisto.
