Flight of the Inner Bird

Blackbird Dance Theatre presents, Flight of the Inner Bird , a new work written by Nell Adkins and Jenny Fitzpatrick. In service to the Queens who came before us, we celebrate their stories, the difficult choices they made, and the legacies they left behind. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Queens continue to walk among us today. Flight of the Inner Bird is a dance and theatre piece inspired by the poetry, manuscripts and research of Elizabeth I, Anne Boleyn, Nefertiti, Mary Queen of Scots, Grace O'Malley, Cleopatra, Catherine de Medici and Amina of Zazzau. "For you see, any attempt to glimpse the woman behind her legend must consider the period in which she lived, the forces arrayed against her, and the society which gave rise to her."
