TheatreworksUSA, ranked among North America’s most respected theaters for the young, brings Marcy Heisler’s and Zina Goldrich’s popular musical, Junie B. Jones to The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University for 2 performances Saturday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. This production is part of The Center’s popular "Especially for Kids" series. This 60-minute musical is recommended for audiences age 5 and up.

Jones is the center of this colorful, funny, fast-paced musical about new friends, new glasses, sugar cookies, the annual kickball tournament, and other various first-grade angst-ridden situations. The audience follows Junie on her adventures as she writes down the story of her life in her "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal." This musical is based on four volumes in Barbara Park’s Junie B. Jones series of books, illustrated by Denise Brunkus and published by Random House: Junie B., First Grader (at Last!); Junie B., Boss of Lunch; Junie B., One-Man Band; and Top-Secret Personal Beeswax: A Journal by Junie B.(and Me!).
