Suzanne Lori-Parks’ Venus is a reimagining of the historical figure Saarjtie Baartman, focusing on the part of her life when she became known as The Hottentot Venus. The South African was desiplated as a side-show oddity in the 1800s, billed to have an enormous posterior.
