Chicago Shakespeare’s 2003/2004 Subscription Series begins with director David H. Bell’s fourth production for the Theater, Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, The Taming of the Shrew. Bell’s production is set
against a backdrop of the high life of Italy’s Via Veneto in the 1950’s-a
raucous, haute couture, paparazzi world of the rich and famous. Produced in
Hollywood and on Broadway, Shakespeare’s sassy romantic comedy is more
hilarious then ever in its original form where resentment surrenders to
romance in this provocative and controversial battle of the sexes.
No Tuesday performances scheduled on 10/7, 10/14, 10/21 and 11/4. No Wednesday 1:00 p.m. performances on 10/29, 11/5, and 11/12.
