About the Show
Sin may be a contemporary morality play, but there’s nothing preachy about it. Wendy MacLeod’s comic drama is both funny and thought provoking. "From the sky, the world is perfect," observes Avery Bly, a helicopter traffic reporter lamenting life’s messiness below. Back on the ground, she passes judgment on the people in her life, ranging from her estranged husband and her dying brother to an insufferable boss and a self-indulgent roommate. Each happens to personify one of the seven deadly sins: envy, gluttony, lust, wrath, greed, sloth and pride. It takes the upheaval of a San Francisco earthquake and AIDS epidemic to make Avery recognize the chasm between her perfectionist expectations and the reality of her own human failings. And it takes clever staging in VTG’s intimate playhouse to bring a diverse cast of characters to life with equal portions of wit and wisdom.
