Chicago Shakespeare Theater presents the new 75-minute abridged production of Short Shakespeare! The Comedy of Errors, directed by David H. Bell, now playing in Chicago Shakespeare’s beautiful Courtyard Theater.
The Comedy of Errors tells the story of Antipholus and his servant Dromio landing in Ephesus, searching for their long-lost twin brothers. Everywhere they go, complete strangers keep insisting that they’re old friends. Shakespeare’s comedy is filled with mayhem and madness as identical twin brothers and their identical twin servants get lost in a hilarious, mixed-up world of mistaken identities. David H. Bell has frequented Chicago Shakespeare Theater as a guest director, most recently staging The Taming of the Shrew in 2003. Bell sets his production of The Comedy of Errors as a play-within-a-play during Depression-era America when the WPA operated the Federal Theatre Project.
