Session 4 2025: iO Music Improv Level 2-M

Level 2M invites you to explore more complex approaches to music improv, expressing the deeper meaning behind your songs and exploring more ways to collaborate and compose together as an ensemble. This level covers various different structures and styles of songs, and will allow you to further discover how your scenes can set the stage for emotional and compelling musical numbers. You will explore methods of finding the game of a song, making inspired musical choices, and bringing a sense of play and theatrics to their performances, which you will then display in an end-of-session showcase. Students who complete this level will be able to improvise songs in a variety of different styles while utilizing advanced techniques, and will deepen the connection between the story of their scenes and the purpose of their songs.
