Not a Game for Boys is about three London cabbies – Eric, Oscar and Tony – who play as a team in a local table tennis league. If the team doesn’t win enough matches, they face relegation – the ugly specter of being moved to the junior league where they will never get a chance to compete for the championship. Eric says that he plays table tennis for fun and relaxation, but he’s clearly having trouble handling the pressure. Oscar – the wise old man of the team – is wondering whether it’s all that fun anymore. Tony – facing troubles with his girl – can’t seem to stay focused on the game long enough to win. They play the game to forget their troubles, but their troubles chase them right into the locker room.
