Jason Loewith directs the Chicago area premiere of Miss Witherspoon, by Christopher Durang.
Poor Miss Witherspoon… after her untimely death, she arrives in the afterlife and refuses to be reincarnated, much to the chagrin of her quirky caseworker Maryamma, a black woman who claims to be Jesus, and Gandalf from Lord of the Rings. Why bother saving the world when it’s already such a mess? A witty, wacky work about our cultural malaise in terrifying times, complete with a surprisingly happy ending as an aperitif.
