Imagining Brad

In Peter Hedges’ Imagining Brad, two Nashville women meet at church, become unlikely friends and address the question of the “perfect” husband. Brad’s wife, a soft-spoken newlywed from Philadelphia, promises that “nothing is quite as loving” as her mysteriously bedridden spouse, while chattery Southern belle Dana Sue Kaye’s husband (“the best-looking man in Tennessee”) sounds too good to be true.
