About This Show

Seeking to continue the string of critically acclaimed adaptations of classic plays, Polarity Ensemble Theatre produces a new rock music inspired production of Hamlet. Shakespeare has never rocked this hard. Director Ann Keen’s interpretation emanates from the modern rock-star culture. Hamlet himself is portrayed as a Kurt Cobain-like figure, struggling to cope with stardom and how it has betrayed his family. This Hamlet looks squarely at a world where statesmanship has been replaced by the cult of celebrity. Where even world leaders aspire to the lives of rock stars and conspire and deceive to suit their images and their ends.
