Governors State University Presents “Divided”, April 29 – 30

Governors State University’s Center for Performing Arts presents Divided by Luanne Aronen Rosenfeld, music by Kristen Lee Rosenfeld, lyrics by Luanne Aronen Rosenfeld, directed by Tor Campbell and music directed by Sharon Mason, April 29 - 30 at Governors State University, 1 University Drive. The journey of two friends across decades, miles and a country divided. Eleanor, the daughter of a wealthy Jewish merchant, and Hanna, a young, enslaved woman refuse to accept the societal norms of their time. Set against a backdrop of a country divided by race, religion and politics (in a time not unlike our own), they take tremendous risks in their search for personal freedom. Taking place pre- and post-Civil War, the story spans from Mississippi to Boston, following Eleanor and Hanna who are separated by war, hatred and lies and the journey they must take to reunite and free themselves from the past. The performance schedule is Wednesday, April 29 at 10 a.m. and Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m.
