Building a Career Directing Comedy On-Camera

In this class students will learn to adapt the improv and comedy skills they have learned at iO and beyond into a working career directing for the camera. We’ll explore the craft of directing comedy for the camera in commercials, film, tv, and short form. How to collaborate with key department heads in the crew, lead actors, appeal to clients/producers, and bring your vision to life. More importantly, this class will teach you how to pay the bills directing comedy. You’ll learn all the unwritten rules of the industry and HOW to get work in this field. From portfolio upkeep, to networking, to awards, to social media, to email etiquette etc. from someone who just walked the path from iO to a 5 figure day rate. 

About the instructor: 

Quinn Wilson is a working Comedy Director.

He’s directed celebrities like Gordon Ramsay, Vanna White,  Aaron Rodgers, Bethenny Frankel, and many more. His work has been featured in the press like Forbes, Associated Press, Good Morning America, People Magazine, Entertainment Tonight, Ad Age etc.

He’s directed national TV spots,  garnered millions of views online, and been awarded at international films festivals, the Webby’s, Addy’s, Telly’s, Hermes Creative Awards, Anthem Awards, Sabre Awards, AVA Digital Awards, Davey Awards, AAPC Awards and he is Emmy nominated.
