Felix Salten’s 1928 novel Bambi: A Life in the Woods at first glance may appear to be about a group of animals that live within a forest somewhere in Germany or Austria. Bambi on one level is an analogy of all groups who attempt to live and love while outside forces are bent on their destruction, i.e. human hunters. Amidst these life-threatening times, these creatures carry on with life and even find great moments of joy.
