The Griffin Theatre Company presents its newest children?s production, A Long Way From Chicago, based on the award-winning novel by Richard Peck. The play like the book traces ten years of Joey and Mary Alice Dowdel as they spend a week each summer with their grandmother in southern Illinois during the depression years. From seeing their first corpse to helping Grandma trespass, pinch property, catch the sheriff in his underwear, and feed the hungry?Joey and Mary Alice have nine summers they?ll never forget. The play is written by William Massolia and directed by Richard Barletta.
