Canadian actor turned playwright Michael Healey has crafted The Drawer Boy, a beautifully nuanced script for the stage that is already being called a contemporary classic. A young, enthusiastic actor from Toronto arrives at a farmhouse in rural Canada intent on doing some research. The two men who live there — boyhood friends and WWII veterans — are reluctant to share much with him. What begins as a humorous story of rural and urban contrasts comes to reveal a compelling history of forgotten love and tragic loss. Winner of the Canadian Dora Award for Best Play, it showcases two of Boise’s best-loved talents, Dan Peterson and Stitch Marker.
