Author Sergio Troncoso will run a one-day workshop to discuss how to improve your writing skills, with in-class exercises on sentences, a mini-craft talk on creating your voice on the page, and discussions of noted writers and their works to show how they use and manipulate point of view to create important literary effects you can use in your own work.
Sergio Troncoso is the author of eight books, most recently NOBODY’S PILGRIMS, which won the Gold Medal for Best Novel from the International Latino Book Awards. He also wrote A PECULIAR KIND OF IMMIGRANT’S SON, which Luis Alberto Urrea called “a world-class collection” and Junot Díaz hailed as “a masterwork.” Troncoso edited NEPANTLA FAMILIAS: AN ANTHOLOGY OF MEXICAN AMERICAN LITERATURE ON FAMILIES IN BETWEEN WORLDS, which received a starred review from Kirkus Reviews. A past president of the Texas Institute of Letters, Troncoso was inducted into the Texas Literary Hall of Fame and teaches at the Yale Writers’ Workshop.
