About This Show

TheaterWorks, downtown Hartford’s Off-Broadway style professional theater, presents one of the most controversial, provocative, and exceptionally funny plays in the history of American theater – Edward Albee’s The Goat or, Who is Sylvia?.

Three-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Albee’s most daring work since Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Goat won every major New York award, including the Tony Award, New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle. In the play, Martin – a wildly successful architect who has just turned fifty – leads an ostensibly ideal life with his loving wife, Stevie, and gay teenage son, Billy. But when Martin confides to his best friend that he is also in love with a goat named Sylvia, he sets in motion events that will test the limits of tolerance and forgiveness.

No matinees on April 3, 11 and May 15. There are also Sunday evening performances on April 25, and May 2, 9, 16, & 23 at 7:30 p.m.
