About This Show

The Boys Choir of Harlem’s concert is an inspiring celebration of joy and hope, ranging from the staples of the European canon, such as Haydn, Bach and Mozart, through modern composers and contemporary works. In addition to classic repertoire and jazz and Broadway selections, their program includes such holiday classics as “We Need a Little Christmas,” “Let It Snow,” and “O Holy Night.” Choreographed African-American spirituals, gospels, jazz, pop and hip-hop demonstrate the magnetic stage presence that has earned the Grammy Award-winning Choir both critical and popular acclaim.

Internationally recognized for virtuoso performances in major concert halls throughout the world, the Boys Choir of Harlem is known for extraordinary innovations in the thousand year old art of the boy choir. For thirty-eight years, it has been an artistically driven organization dedicated to providing students with a program of education, counseling and the performing arts in order to prepare them to become confident, motivated and successful adults. According to the organization’s philosophy, the Boys Choir of Harlem “uses music as an engine for change in children’s lives.” The Choir is directed by founder Dr. Walter J. Turnbull.
