Esme Allen, the domineering and arrogant grande dame of the London theatre, is furious that her daughter has fallen in love with a would-be film maker. She sees him as a hustler, climbing the mass media ladder; falling well below her cultural standards. Amy, blinded by love, will never receive what she is seeking in this relationship, despite her feelings that love is unconditional.
