Just in time for the upcoming Presidential elections, Synchronicity Theatre presents its own brand of democracy by inviting audiences to drink coffee, listen to new plays by contemporary playwrights, and chime in on its upcoming season in 4plays, the annual playreading series.

House of Wonder: By Rinne Groff. Directed by Melissa Foulger. A strange accident leaves Eddie an unwitting miracle-worker, and he soon gains a pack of true believers. A suspicious scientist wants to explain how it works.

September 28
Tatjana in Color: The Trial of Egon Schiele: By Julia Jordan. Directed by Michele Pearce. Expressionist painter Egon Schiele paints nudes. Tatjana von Mossig — 12 years old — longs to be his next muse. Loosely based on true events, art, propriety and genius are put on the stand as Tatjana tears into womanhood while Schiele watches… and paints.

October 5
The Women of Lockerbie: By Deborah Brevoort. Directed by Karen Robinson. Seven years after the Lockerbie crash, a grieving couple travels to Scotland to try and make sense of the death of their son. The women of the Lockerbie Laundry Project — a plan devised by the local women to wash each of the 11,000 articles of clothing found in the crash and return them to the families — meet them on the moors.

Smashing: By Brooke Berman. Directed by Heidi Howard. Never sleep with a writer. Abby, a young Manhattan-ite born of a famous-writer father learns this lesson early, as her one-time fling with young man in his 20’s become the stuff of his famous first novel.
