Join us at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn for DC Science Comedy,
a one-of-a-kind show that blends sharp stand-up comedy with the wonder of
science. Founded and hosted by journalist and comedian Kasha Patel, this lively
event features stand-up, humorous storytelling, musical bits, and interactive
trivia designed to entertain audiences of all backgrounds.

Kasha, a former NASA scientist with degrees in chemistry and
science journalism, draws from her extensive scientific experience to create
smart, accessible comedy. She has published research in journals such as Astronomy
& Geophysics and Inorganica Chimica Acta, and shared her insights in the
TEDx talk “Sneaking Science into Stand-Up,” where she revealed surprising
findings from analyzing more than 500 of her own jokes.

Her work has been featured on NPR, BBC World, the Travel
Channel, the Science Channel, and The Weather Channel, and she even hosted a
miniseries on NASA TV. Whether she’s exploring the mysteries of the universe or
poking fun at everyday life, Kasha brings a blend of clever humor, interactive
elements, and genuine curiosity to the stage.
