About the Show

Based on James Michener’s Pulitzer Prize winning book Tales of the South Pacific, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific is set on a tropical island during World War II. The musical tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples — US Navy nurse Nellie Forbush & French plantation owner Emile de Becque and US Navy Lieutenant Joseph Cable & young Bali Ha’i native girl Liat — and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of the war and by their own prejudices.

South Pacific premiered in 1949 and won 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The 2008 Broadway revival won 7 Tony Awards. Considered by many the finest musical ever written, the score’s songs include such American classics as Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than Springtime, Bali Ha’i, There is Nothin’ Like A Dame and I’m in Love with a Wonderful Guy.

Starring Katie Keough as Nellie Forbush, Thomas Camm as Emile de Becque, Alika Hope as Bloody Mary, T. Abram Lee as Luther Billis, Ryan Pipke as Lt. Joseph Cable and Julia Sun as Liat with musical direction by Craig Hartley and direction and choreography by Sally Camm.
