The Witch of Edmonton

The Witch of Edmonton is baed on the true story of Elizabeth Sawyer, a young woman who was tried and executed for practising witchcraft. Sawyer enlists the help of the Devil in the guise of a dog. Interwoven is the tragedy of Frank Thorney, who is forced into a bigamous marriage with a wealthy young woman in order to restore his family’s fortunes. Lust, bigamy, revenge, madness, suicide and murder are all unleased as the Devil hunts his prey through the town of Edmonton. This production is a feature of the 2000 International Festival of Arts & Ideas.
