An Evening with Rue McClanahan

About the Show

Emmy Award winner Rue McClanahan, whose acting career has spanned more than four decades, will appear as a benefit for Playhouse on the Green with stories from her memoir, My First Five Husbands…and the Ones That Got Away.

McClanahan played the sexy Southern vixen, Blanche Devereaux, on the Emmy Award-winning television series, The Golden Girls. With her breezy sex appeal and sharp comedic timing, McClanahan infused her character with a sassy joie de vivre that captured the hearts of audiences around the world. Most recently, she played Madame Morrible in Broadway’s Wicked.

Reading excerpts from her recent autobiography, My First Five Husbands…and the Ones That Got Away, McClanahan reveals her life in and out of the spotlight in a deliciously entertaining, funny memoir about love, marriage, men and getting older that is every bit as colorful as the characters she plays.

The event is followed by a Q&A with McClanahan, and special book signing after the performances.
