About This Show

Jammin’ with Pops is a new, toe-tapping musical revue spotlighting the music and stories of jazz greats Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. Set in a small town, backstage is a nondescript theater in the mid-1960s, Armstrong and Fitzgerald have stories to tell and songs to sing that reveal how they became some of the greatest names in jazz. Armstong and his band have just finished a concert when Fitzgerald makes a surprise visit backstage. When Fitzgerald says she’s a little blue, Armstrong starts an impromptu jam session to cheer her up. Armstrong involves the audience as he explains how he started, and what he did to become one of the greatest names in jazz. Fitzgerald, always a private person, reluctantly shares her story more and more as the evening progresses.
