Christopher Durang’s slightly-deranged comedy Beyond Therapy is about Prudence and Bruce, a couple who meet through a personals ad, in an attempt to find “the right person.” Prudence soon meets Bob, Bruce’s live-in lover, which provides a major hitch in the new relationship. There are also the couple’s therapists: hers is a macho pig who once seduced her and constantly brags about his prowess; his is an unhinged, loopy woman who speaks to her patients through a Snoopy doll. Each character has a distinctly off-kilter personality – and all are absolutely beyond therapy.
