The Elephant Song/The Human Voice

The Elephant Song, by Nicolas Billon, is a new Canadian one-act play, workshopped at the Stratford Festival through the new play development programme. In the play, an eminent psychiatrist has vanished from his office. The last person to see him is a troubled patient who speaks of elephants and opera – with the occasional hint of murder and foul play.

The Human Voice, by Jean Cocteau, in a new translation by John Murrell. In this one-act tour de force by on of Frances’s most celebrated filmmakers, a woman on the edge of an emotional breakdown holds an anguished telephone conversation with the lover who has recently left her.
