About the Show

The Ashkenaz Festival, a celebration of new Yiddish culture, returns to the Harbourfront Centre. Colourful events like the pageant and parade organized by the award-winning Shadowland Theatre, Kaballistic yoga and dramatic Havdallah rituals ushering in the weekend evoke the special nature of the festival that combines the traditional spirit of Eastern Europe with the new radical art being created in a contemporary resurgence of Jewish culture.

Through commissioned musical compositions and performances, theatrical premieres, collaborations between choreographers and musicians, silent film classics accompanied live by klezmer groups, and special presentations of graphic novels along with book and CD launches, the festival offers a cornucopia of exhilarating experiences. Whether you are in the mood to catch some vibes or learn to kvetch, experience cutting edge culture or cut the rug, you can do it all at Ashkenaz! With eight performance stages, and over 150 performers, the festival offers a feast of activity.

Admission to the site is free but some events require tickets. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the York Quay Centre Box Office, 235 Queens Quay West or by phone.

For a full schedule of events please visit the main Ashkenaz Festival site.
