About the Show

Set in 1972, The Drawer Boy is the story of two Canadian farmers, Angus and Morgan, who are boyhood
friends and World War II veterans. After suffering
brain damage during the war, Angus can communicate,
but his short-term memory loss has left Morgan
effectively in charge of his memories for the past 30
years. Their workaday lives are comically disrupted
when Miles, a young actor researching farm life for a
play he is co-writing with his small theater company,
shows up at their door. Miles overhears Morgan retell
Angus the story of their lives and, without asking
their permission, writes down the tale and inserts it
into the play. When the two farmers see the story
performed, it has a profound effect on Angus’ memory,
his relationship with Morgan, and on Miles’ idea of
how theater can transform lives.
