The Magic Flute for Kids

About the Show

This new one-hour children’s program based on Mozart’s beloved final opera, The Magic Flute, allows some members of the audience to be seated onstage and on special extensions of the main stage to experience the singers and orchestra up close. The San Francisco Opera Orchestra will perform onstage, led by Musical Director and Principal Conductor Donald Runnicles. He will also lead demonstrations of the various instruments and orchestra sections. The comic bird catcher Papageno will narrate the story of the opera as he introduces the other characters and the scenes they will perform. The San Francisco Opera Adler Fellows take on the main roles, joined by members of the San Francisco Opera Chorus, and San Francisco Opera General Director Pamela Rosenberg, who will be making her debut on the main stage as “The Tree.”
