After a disastrous gallery showing, a celebrated artist loses her touch, her boyfriend – becomes suicidal and finds herself in a psychiatric hospital. To her surprise she finds she loves the hospital’s daily structure, but her health insurance will only pay for a 10-day stay. Fearing that she will be discharged, she adopts the persona of baseball legend Darryl Strawberry, having read his self-help recovery manual.
