Writing Hollywood Lesbian, 1963 was inspired by Donna Richards’ heated tale of “deviant love” written in 1963. In Napoli’s original adaptation, however, Richards becomes a character in the play, which follows the writer as she introduces us to the women who call the Castle Girls Hotel home – one of those special places where a girl could feel safe and at home with her own. House mother Carlotta Keating made it her business to know everything about her “girls,” and she knew that she could overpower tham all with a strange new passion, if only given a chance. But all that changed the day the innocent and pure Elaine Stewart arrived in town. She was different from the other girls, but how? Nobody knew, especially the hungry and manipulative Carlotta, who knew she had to have a taste. Once bitten, could she “change” Elaine? Or could Elaine elude the clutches of Carlotta’s deviant ways?
