Hudson Theatricals presents the Los Angeles run of the hilarious comedy about love, sex and self-help… Venus Attacks!
The show is a critically acclaimed two-women self-help parody, starring writer/performers Debbie Kasper and Sheila Kay each playing several outrageous characters who’ve gathered together to give women the self-help secrets to success. This de-motivational comedy from Los Angeles, (where else!) spoofs the stream of self-help workshops currently sweeping the nation. But you don’t have to be a guru seeking, twelve stepping, Depok Chopra loving, new age vegan to see why this is rapidly becoming a national smash hit. It appeals to everybody.
The Goddess Venus, the egocentric founder of Venus and her assistant Goddess in training, Starshine, lead the faux seminar. Venus exclaims, “We are not feminists, because we’re prettier,” and their mission is to raise the level of women’s self-esteem across America — whether they want it or not! She taunts her followers, “Don’t be you, it’s so yesterday.” She promises that by the end of the night, “You will all be worshipped like the love goddess Venus.” And also by the end of the seminar, Starshine will complete her final goddess training and become a seminar leader like her guru. Or will she?
