Continuing their NewSCRipts series of staged readings, South Coast Repertory presents The St. James Infirmary, a bluesy noir examination of the soulless inhabitants of a world dominated by gamblers, thieves and women of the night. Borrowing from mythic tales of crossroad dealings with the devil, the play looks at what happens when the purchaser of souls comes to collect. Playwright Brian Tucker was awarded the Chicago Dramatists “Many Voices Project” Grand Prize for his play.
Following the reading, audience members may participate in a post-show discussion with the playwright and dramaturgs.
