The Shadow
About the Show
The Shadow, by Evgeny Shvarts, takes place in the absudist journey of a Scholar in a country where “fables and tales occur on a daily basis.” Young, romantic and idealist, he falls in love with an orphaned Princess and proclaims that when they marry, they will renounce the crown, because “royal power is meaningless and worthless.” Asking his Shadow to deliver a love declaration to a Princess, the Scholar sets in motions the darkest of fairytales, which unfolds a chain of events that lead to his execution. At the end of the story, the scales of justice tip in Scholar’s favor, love triumphs and good wins over evil. Istelle Petra directs.
