A freshened up and re-styled The Music Man presented by The Music Theatre of Southern California offers decent sentiment and delightfully rousing music. Michael G. Hawkins stars as Professor Harold Hill, a traveling salesman from Gary, Indiana, who bursts into little River City alerting residents to potential corruption. A poster boy for that evil, he charms the town into gathering the money to buy uniforms for a boy’s marching band led by none other than the roguish Professor himself, of course. Townsfolk are left enlightened and energized.
